Details on Adam Ant's Discography

Adam Ant has been one of the most iconic and trendsetting musicians of the last four decades, with a robust and extensive discography to match. Beginning his career in the late 1970s, Adam Ant achieved success with a sound and image that combined brilliant post-punk energy with a theatrical stage presence and outlandish costume design.

He released his debut single, "Deutscher Girls," in 1979 and his debut album, Dirk Wears White Sox, followed in 1980. The record was full of hooks and instantly established Adam Ant as an artist with an uncompromising vision and a sense of humor to match. His 1981 LP, Prince Charming, was an even bigger success, topping the UK Albums Chart on the strength of the hit single "Stand and Deliver" and generating further hits such as "Ant Music," "Prince Charming," and "Goody Two Shoes." The album established Adam as one of the biggest stars of the nascent New Wave of British Heavy Metal.

Completing the "Dandy Highwayman" trilogy, his 1982 LP Friend or Foe was a darker and more intense record than its predecessors, but it still contained plenty of catchy tunes such as "Friend or Foe," "Desperate But Not Serious," and "Something Girls." His 1984 album, Strip, was an even bigger success, and featured the monster hit single "Strip," which was followed by two other top ten successes, "Puss 'n' Boots" and "Apollo 9."

Following a brief lull in his popularity, Adam Ant returned in 1988 with the ablum Mannbagging, which contained the UK Top Five hit "Room at the Top." Two more albums of new material followed in the 1990s: Wonderful in 1992 and Wonderful! in 1994. Both albums contained moderately successful singles, such as "Wonderful," "Strip Revisited", and "Can't Set Rules About Love."

After a decade-long hiatus, Adam Ant returned with the album Adam Ant is the Blueblack Hussar in Marvallous Motions, which received critical acclaim and produced the hit single "Cool Zombie." In 2014, Adam Ant released his first studio album in 18 years, Title of the Record. The album was a return to form for Adam, and he followed it up in 2015 with a re-recorded version of Dirk Wears White Sox.

Adam Ant continues to tour and perform, with a devoted fan base that stretches back generations. His discography reflects his singular approach to music, with thoughtful lyrics, tongue-in-cheek humor, and sharp hooks. His influence on the music industry remains undiminished, and it's safe to assume that Adam will remain a beloved figure in popular music for decades to come.
